Browser storage and local data
Why clearing browser data can remove unsynced work and chat keys.
Storage used by 10k
- The browser uses secure sign-in cookies and local account markers.
- IndexedDB and local storage hold offline data, preferences and changes waiting to sync.
- Cache storage keeps PWA assets for faster startup and offline loading.
- Temporary session storage helps recover from a failed app-code load.
- The Android app uses native storage for its local data.
Before clearing data
Let pending changes sync and make sure you have a working passkey or saved chat recovery code.
Clearing browser or app data can remove unsynced work and the keys this device uses to open encrypted chats. Signing in again does not restore work that never reached the server.
If a sync error repeats, contact support before clearing data.
