10,000 hours to mastery
Our name comes from the 10,000-hour idea. Malcolm Gladwell popularized it in Outliers, and it grew out of Anders Ericsson and colleagues’ 1993 research on expert musicians.
The research found that world-class performers had put in around 10,000 hours of deliberate practice: focused work with clear goals and feedback. We believe this holds far beyond music. In almost anything you do, the more you practice, the better you get.
10k helps you keep that commitment. Log your practice, see the hours add up, and work toward your next milestone.

Is 10k free?
Yes. 10k is free during launch. There is no subscription to buy, no card to enter and no ads.
Does 10k work offline?
Yes. Timers, manual entries and activity changes work without a connection and sync when you’re back online. Clubs and friend requests need a connection.
Is there an Android app?
Yes, 10k is on Google Play. You can also open 10k.live in Chrome on your phone and install it from the browser menu. Either way it works offline and stays in sync with your other devices.
Is my data private?
10k doesn’t sell your personal information or show ads, and optional analytics stay off unless you agree. You decide who can open your profile, an activity is shared only with people you connect it to, and you can export or delete your account at any time.
Can I practice with friends?
Yes. Connect an activity with friends to compare your time on leaderboards and graphs, join a club with its own leaderboard and chat, or send direct messages.
