Focus timer

Choose how long you want to focus. 10k splits the time into work stages and breaks, and tracks the work for you.

Pick a length, 10k plans the breaks

Add the Focus Timer widget, set the total focus minutes and press Start focus session. The default is 30 minutes, and the arrows change it in steps of 5.

Work stages last up to 30 minutes, with a 5-minute break between them. When a session has two or more breaks, the middle one becomes a 15-minute long break. Tick Skip breaks to work straight through.

  • 30 minutes 15 minutes of work, a 5-minute break, 15 minutes of work.
  • 60 minutes 30 minutes of work, a 5-minute break, 30 minutes of work.
  • 90 minutes three 30-minute work stages, with a 5-minute break and then a 15-minute break.

Build your own sequence

Open the widget settings to plan the stages yourself. Add work stages, short breaks and long breaks, set each one from 1 to 480 minutes, and drag them into the order you want.

While the timer runs

The widget shows a countdown ring with the current stage, the time left and what comes next. Work stages run the activity's timer, so focus time counts toward your totals. Breaks and pauses stop it.

When a stage ends, 10k plays a sound and can show a browser notification. Turn on Auto-start next stage to move on automatically, or press Continue when you are ready.

Questions and answers

Does focus time count toward my total?

Yes. Work stages run the activity's timer and are saved as normal sessions. Breaks are not counted.

What happens if I reload the page?

The focus session carries on. Each stage is timed from when it started, not from the open page.

Can I pause a focus session?

Yes. Click the ring to pause. While paused you can resume, restart the stage or skip to the next one.
